The series begins with the return of the Upper East Side’s “it girl,” Serena Van Der Woodsen. She is seen getting off of a train at Grand Central Station by Daniel “Dan” Humphrey, a.k.a Lonely Boy. Gossip Girl, the popular blog that somehow seems to know everything about everyone, immediately posts a picture of this occurrence, which stirs rumors everywhere.
Serena immediately heads to the house of her best friend, Blair Waldorf. Although Blair should be happy to see her best friend return, she hesitant to display it and seems more protective of her boyfriend, Nate Archibald. Did something happen that we don’t know about? After a confrontation at the party being thrown at Blair’s house, Serena departs, leaving everyone more confused than ever.
Apparently, she didn’t come for Blair. Just for her mom, asking about a mysterious character, Eric. Soon after, we find out that Eric is none other than Serena’s brother, who is in a rehabilitation center for an attempted suicide. Is he the reason for Serena’s return?
Quickly approaching is Blair’s Kiss on the Lips party, and it is all anyone can talk about in the Upper East Side. Unfortunately, however, Blair doesn’t seem to have an extra invite for her bff. Lucky for Serena, the girl who made the invites, Jenny Humphrey, sneaks one to her.
Later on, we see the return of Dan, as he bumps into Serena when she is intoxicated. A series of events occur, resulting in a date between Dan and Serena, however this is cut short when Dan gets a text from his younger sister, Jenny, and it seems serious. What happens next? That’s one secret I’ll never tell. Xoxo, Gossip Girl.
